Bill Provisions
Mandates that a preferred provider agreement cannot require dental providers to accept only credit card payments from insurers or from third-party vendors.
Sets requirements for initiating or changing payments to a dental provider using electronic funds transfer payments, including for virtual credit card payments.
Must notify dental provider if any fees associated with a particular payment method.
Advise the dental provider of the available methods of payment and provide clear instructions to the dental provider as to how to select an alternative payment method
Disclose whether the insurer shares in any of the credit card transaction fees.
No fees can be charged just to transmit Automated Clearing House (ACH) payments.
A dental provider's agent may charge reasonable fees for additional services such as transaction management or portals that go beyond basic payment transmission.
