HUD Extends Helene, Milton Moratorium

On Apr. 8, HUD extended foreclosure moratoriums to FHA borrowers.

  • HUD issued Mortgagee Letter 2025-10 (ML) to extend for a second time, the foreclosure moratoriums in connection with Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.

  • Relief applies to FHA-insured single family mortgages in the Presidentially-Declared Major Disaster Areas (PDMDAs) resulting from Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
  • The extensions provide more time for impacted American families in devastated areas to seek federal, state, or local assistance without being subject to foreclosure.
  • Borrowers and renters can receive mortgage, relief, housing, disaster relief, 100% financing for those whose homes were destroyed, and FHA Sanction 203(b) loans.
  • Effectiveness
  • The relief is available for an additional ninety days.
