LOU LEG passed Bill SB 40 which updates licensure requirements for persons regulated by the department of insurance, including required hours of continuing education (CE).
Producers and consultants authorized to write personal and business property and/or casualty insurance must complete 24 hours of approved CE before license renewal.
Life insurance, accident, health or sickness producers and consultants, and adjusters must complete annually 2 hours of instruction dedicated to insurance law updates.
Additionally, an individual employed by an insurer who adjusts a loss, or authorizes a payment on claim that does not exceed $2000 is exempt from licensing requirements.
