On Jan. 22, CME issued advisory on technical specification updates.
CME Canadian Trade Repository (CTR) released updates to its Technical Specification to comply with the CSA amended swap data reporting rules, and released related FAQ.
Follows CSAs Jul. 2024 final rule on trade reporting requirements, see #140360.
Summary
CSA established Jul. 25, 2025 as the date by which all entities who report to CSA, via a registered Trade Repository, will be required to submit trade data in the new format.
The Technical Specification serves all 13 regulatory jurisdictions within Canada.
Updates to Technical Specification to be implemented include unique trade identifier to replace the unique swap identifier, and the introduction of unique product identifier.
Separate line submissions for creation, lifecycle events, publicly available transactions.
CME CTR will require 2 rows in a submission file, rather than allowing them combined.
Derivative dealers will need to begin reporting valuation, collateral and margin data.
